Stair Tread: Most Abused Stair Part

Stair parts traditionally consist of nosing’s, treads, risers, newel posts, hand railings, balusters and landings. But it will only take stair treads, risers and railings to make a simple, efficient stair way. Of the three most indispensable stair parts, stair treads prove to be the most important being the miniature launching pads on which to step in order to propel one foot after another.

Stair treads are the most frequently used, and abused, of the stair parts. They are often ornamented with rugs and carpeting’s, or varnished. This way, stair treads are decorated and protected from the blows and scratches of rushing feet; stair treads need to be with protective covering for them to withstand vigorous use and to stay efficient even for a life time.

The lobbies of commercial and residential buildings are usually designed with imposing staircases with complete stair parts made of the finest wood and metal or concrete and stone, on which are exquisite engraved designs which match important function with great looks.
